After the nuclear disaster at Fukushima, Japan, in 2011, people in Taiwan
have become more and more concerned about radiation levels in food products. To make sure that it keeps the trust of its customers, Taiwanese food giant, I-Mei, opened its own radiation testing laboratory in August of last year. The company spent about NT$15 million on two machines brought in from France that can test the amount of radiation in food. They also sent staff members to France to receive the proper training on how to use these new machines. Opening this lab made I-Mei the first private company in Taiwan to use its own radiation testing equipment.
