Modern models have been invented that don’t slow down our fingers. Keyboards like the Dvorak place the keys closer to where the fingers naturally rest and balance how many keys each hand types. By comparison, with the QWERTY keyboard, the left hand types more than the right. In spite of the new designs, we learn to type on QWERTY keyboards and we teach our children to type on them. Even though there are more efficient designs, it is likely that QWERTY is here to stay.
